Got this from my grandpaw he finished restoring it in 80 drove it till a few years ago parked it started it every week till about 8 mnts ago. Gave it to me about a week ago has one rust hole adopt the side of my pinky finger in the drivers side front fender and i was all over under and around this car, I'm sure theres more somewheres but its very solid. from what i can see it needs tires plugs a carb rebuild brake rebuild to be on the road. this is my first packard but not my first 50's vehicle it unlike my 51 f1 this will stay close to original. Pawpaw said he wanted me to drive it and he suggested electric fuel pump, and electric wipers. it has power brakes, 3speed with od and all kinds of options. the only trim its missing is on the passenger side the little piece between the doors on the B pillar and that may be in the trunk i need to look. let me know what y'all think Oh he also has a studeabaker not sure of the year for sale and a 67 f100 that don't have a title that he said he would take 200 for.

G'day SSD,
to PackardInfo. Looks good, but I'll leave more in depth comments to those more familiar with those model years. Instead, I invite you to include your '53 Clipper Deluxe in the Packard Owner's Registry here on PackardInfo!

You have gotten yourself a car that is easy to work on, and very comfortable and enjoyable to drive. Especially with the overdrive it will keep up with traffic easily. Its already much more solid than what we find here along the east coast.

Just recently we have had two fellows here on the forum who have had troubles with valves sticking caused by running an engine on old gas. Do yourself a big favor and resist the temptation to try and nurse that thing to life with anything that might be in the tank.

I have two essentially similar cars on the road and never get tired of driving them.

Thanks for the info but when pawpaw parked it he drained the tank clamped the line and filled the tank with diesel so it wouldn't rust he started it off a small tank he would rig up direct to the carb. said pull the clamp off and put power to the pump under the car and the tank is ready for gas in a few min

Looks like a great car and was taken care of. There is a lot, and I mean a LOT of discussion on the power brake Packard used on this website. It might help make up your mind as to what to do with the Easamatic system. I'm sure you'll have plenty of good times with your Clipper and Grandfather breathing life back into her and driving. Good luck!
