Did I miss something? You started this thread asking about automatic transmission fluids, but it appears you have a standard transmission. I hope you didn't top off a standard transmission with automatic trans fluid. If so, a complete drain, flush and refill with gear oil is in order.

It's really important to provide all the specs about your car (or the part) that you're having difficulty with! Accuracy in=accuracy out.

That said, we assumed it was an Ultra based on your reading of the manual's specs for Type A, which is an automatic trans fluid ONLY...as Owen states, it is NOT suitable for a manual trans.

Drain it! And if you want to substitute a synthetic fluid of the proper viscosity, that would be OK.

Ok. So I found out today its not a fluid problem . It is my main shaft and bearing. It can never be something simple. So if anyone knows of a good 3 speed transmission laying around for sale please let me know.

Shoot Ross a message. He may have one, and he is up in Maryland.

Ok. So I took off the top of the gear box on the transmission and looked down inside and seen the 2gear has some cracked teeth. Would anyone have a line on where I might be able to pick-up a cluster gear for a 3 speed manual trans.?

Try Kanter Bros., they have piles of used standard transmissions and would perhaps break one down for you, or sell you an entire trans.
