Here is the info from parts book-- 1/4-28 x 7/8 machine screw, fillister head slotted. These screws should be avaiable from any nut and bolt store. Good luck

You should try on-line using Google or contact Restoration Specialities.

I needed something similar a few years ago and couldn't find it anywhere. Ended up buying hex-head machine bolts, turning the head to round and then facing it off smooth in a small lathe, and cutting the screw slots with a hacksaw and final dressing up with small files, followed by polishing. You could probably make 4 or 5 per hour. For those of us whose cars are out of service in the winter, projects like this really help pass the time and also polish our skills.

If you can tolerate 1/8 inch shorter McMaster-Carr might have some that work. Have to buy a box of 25 though.

Several of the fastener places have individuals but seem to only have 1/4-20 thread. 1/4-28 seems to be a bit harder to find. McMaster only carries that particular thread in stainless.

$8.29 + shipping for 25 of them? Sounds like the bargain of the month! In stainless no less. You'll have enough left for your friends.

3/4" should work fine.

An existing one that I checked had 3/4" screws, so things were not always assembled according to specifications.

McMaster-Carr has supplied me with hardware for a long time. Delivery is swift and cheap. I usually get my order in one day.
Now if I could just find some friends.
