Well, now that makes sense.
I figured out the stupid wipers on my own but not the black lines under the gold
script.
Mind Boggling.

I finally received the left-side drip rail from C2C. I won't bore you with a repeat from the right side.

I pulled the rest of the stainless steel trim out of the attic. I knew I was missing a couple of pieces when I brought the 400 home but now I seem to be missing a few more. I know I had them and there are pictures of them right here in the early days of my blog but I can't find them now. Once I figure out what I am missing I'll be reaching out to some of my favorite sources for parts.
I did order and receive a rear windshield gasket from steel rubber for when the painting is done.

Both drip rails are finally in place. That was a big rabbit hole I wish I had not had to go down. I still need to prime them.
Now I can get back to finishing up the painting of the body.
I found 2 more missing pieces of the trim that I mentioned last time. I was looking for stainless steel but these 2 upper fender pieces are chrome.
The chrome on these isn't in great shape. Looks like another rabbit hole, do I re-chrome or replace it?

Good luck with the rear window seal. The one they sent me didn’t fit for crap. IIRC I had to measure and send it back to them for replacement as it was not tall enough to capture the window and the metal of the roof line. The new one was better but still wasn’t great. Not sure exactly why it didn’t fit as well as I thought it should… could have been the car too I suppose. Hopefully you won’t have the trouble I did.

I emailed quetride weeks ago as well and it’s been crickets.

Henry got me worried about that rear windshield seal. I did not want to find out 6-month from now that it did not fit and then not be able to return it.
So, I did the right thing and pulled the glass out of the attic. Cleaned off 9 years of dust and test fit the seal. It fits fine.
I am not ready to install it yet.
I believe that Mike Dulinski told me to put the seal on the glass and then insert a 1/4 or 3/8 rope in the other side of the seal and just let it sit there for a month or more before installing it.
That will give the seal some "muscle memory" and make installation a little easier. We shall see.

I tried Packard's way with steeles gasket. It didn't go well.

So I bought another gasket

And going to wait and see how you did.

Steele said to use bedding compound . and for glass a urethane..

Using the urethane the way you have it would be better.

Cause you only have 10 minutes to work it.

Which was my problem.

The gold packard lettering, is that new, painted, or polished? Or refinished?

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

I had problems with a Steele gasket on the rear window of my '32 901 sedan. I used black polyurethane sealant from Home Depot to fill in the gaps. It blended in perfect.

I picked up those two gold scripts from Tuscan Packard last fall. I have a post about them back on page 87. All the other gold items were refinished by a company in Nashville around the same time.

This is what the windshield looks like right now. Not really sure yet what my plan is for installing it. Going to let it sit like this for a month or so. It is supposed to make it easier to work.

This week I will make some calls and try to locate a replacement front windshield.
