Looks like you've got a good, solid, project car.

Is this a 374?

Date code is 6-11-56? Last digit is tough, think it's a 6 but could be a 5.
Casting # is 440275 A
Oil filler pad says 534 (this number does not appear in the paper work)

Valve covers are plain & it has the round air cleaner with the round hole facing forward.

If I have the time, I may pull a head & look around, perhaps I can free up some rings & get her running?

Based on reports from others in these forums, 440275 indicates a 352. As noted previously in this thread by HH56, a 374 would have a casting number of 440971.

Plain valve covers were 55 Clipper only, but used on both 320 and 352 engines (together with a Clipper decal).

However, the description for that air cleaner sounds like what was fitted to 56 Clipper Custom and Executive models with the 352 (and Carter 4-bbl. carb).

This car has landed in a new and caring home, maybe the new owner will chime in.
It was a chore to load it up, we used ratcheting straps to pull it on the trailer & it was a long process!
She pulled pretty heavy behind the Dodge and we got a ton of thumbs up in my 4+ hours on the road, one guy motioned from the left lane that he had one too, how cool is that!
Got lots of thumbs up on the way home too as the trailer now had a very handsome 8 pointer strapped on it :)
One thing I had not realized was that the roof was well & truly dented, perhaps kids had played on it long ago?
The new owner felt that it would need a new roof welded on
so that was a bummer.
All & all, it was a great experience & now I am hungry as ever for the right car.

Yet, I'd think it would be easier to remove just the headliner to work out the dents and shrink the metal than it would be to replace an entire roof.

Might be a different story if it were a 56 Carib Hardtop.

Well, I continue to collect parts... They started with an air cleaner a couple of years ago. A recent swap meet provided several NIB oil filters and I have just added this.
SCORE!






This also came home with me, I think it was about a '52 or '53 it came out of. Somebody will know what model.In the photo is what I think is the OD relay. This trans is available.

Looks like a complete R11 setup minus the kickdown switch. Too bad they cut the lockout cable -- but at least that is not the expensive one. An aftermarket assy would even work since the lockout switch is located on the OD instead of the underdash bracket.
