AFAIK, the only place would be on a build sheet if you are lucky enough to find one. Don't believe they put any postwar paint and trim info on the car until a revised patent plate with space for the info was introduced for use after the 22nd series started production.

If your really lucky you might find the build sheet attached to the gas tank filler pipe. That is where is was on my 47.

Try reaching up and around the glove box. They taped the build code on top of the glove box, if you're really lucky it will still be there

Who was the selling dealer? And theft-proof #? Very slim chance I might have the original delivery card.

Also, look for the build slip behind the back seat cushion, and paper tags on the undersides of the seat cushions, and sometimes you'll find the VN with the paint code chalked on the inside of the doors. Any of those numbers may have the the alpha letter between the two portion of the VN to give you the original paint code.

Also, most repaints still leave traces of the original paint somewhere, have you looked closely at those spots that would have been missed in a repaint? Or carefully sanded down the current paint to find the underlying original color?

If painted non original colour and unless the repainting involved a complete dipping of body in a vat of paint remover there should be traces of original colour somewhere. Look in the truck above the spare tire well or lower part of the firewall.
