I don't do many v8s, so have only used the Felpro seal once so far. Worked well but right this morning with only half of my first cup of coffee in me, I can hardly remember anything about it.

When I replaced seal with the Kanter rope one it was hellish tight initially, I could hardly turn the engine with a 3foot bar and socket. Had me worried that it would burn the crank. A mechanic who has done hundreds of these over many years said that's how it should be, and it would loosen up and be OK.
If major oil leakage is the main problem you might have a choice to eliminate the oil puddle until you replace the seal. In days past some would do a 'temporary fix' by blocking the drain hole in the flywheel housing and inserting a tube connected to the inlet manifold, which sucked the oil out that gathered there and burnt it. I'm not recommending you do that, just mentioning it was a way to get by for a while.

I will say, that electric fuel pump auto zone sells for Packard, works ok,, I am using it out of 5 gallon gas can, I still need to drop tank,
on video you can see fuel gas is not working, there is a full tank of 1995 gas in the tank

lifters
going to use the 879, don't know if they are HT, or not, but the different types, i am showing the oil hole in one , and i am using that type now,, others have no hole in cup, must be after market, and oil groove are different ,, i have a org lifter, found it after i took these pics. .. it has oil groove in middle of lifter, and it has has that little hole up top, that you use to pull lifter out, the lifters with hole in cup,, to me that is another place for oil to leak, then the lifter can leak down, and clack,

don't know if they are HT, or not,
HT preceding the 879 stands for "hydraulic tappet".
