Hello again.

I bought a new exhaust from America including all fastening brackets for my 2150.

So far I have figured out that no:1 and no:2 are combined together at the bellhousing.

Number 3 is the last but I haven't found any hole in the frame where it attaches. Isn?t it attached to the frame?

Number 4 is at the rear of the silencer. But I can?t figure out how it is attached to the frame. Is there no flexible device here?

For #3, look a few inches in from the end of the tailpipe right at the corner above the bumper brackets where the rear of the frame and rear cross brace join next to the gas tank. Maybe it is just the angle of the photo but your tail pipe looks a bit more to center of the car than mine is. The little arm offsets the hanger a few inches from the holes in the corner of the frame so the hanger lines up with the tailpipe.

For number 4 which goes next to the silencer it appears to be supported in the middle of a piece of the rubber insulating strap material which spans a distance over the tailpipe. While I can't see much without raising the car, I believe one end or maybe both ends fasten to the body. There looks to be some kind of reinforcing plate holding the insulator strap to the body but possibly only one end fastens to the body and the plate supports the other end of the insulating strap. I couldn't see or get my hand in to feel if there is a second bolt.

Item 3 solved but still can not figure out item 4.

According to FredKanter the exhaust is only connected to the frame, never to the body.
Maybe there?s something more missing?

Regarding where I bought them I have no idea. There?s a Swede living in USA who has been supplying parts to Scandinavian Packard owners for about 40 years now. I just write to him and the parts I want come by post.

Could be none other than Mr. Ole B??k, North Bergen NJ.

On my '54 one of the exhaust hangers attaches to one of the body support brackets off the frame. You'll see this in my project blog.

Fred is correct. After I jacked the car up to get a better look, the hanger is connected to the frame and not the body.

The piece of metal with the U shaped cutout in the middle I called a reinforcing plate earlier is actually riveted to the top of the frame on the outside. It spans across the top of tailpipe to a flange 3 cm or so down from the top of the X frame piece on the inside. It appears to be one piece and is welded or riveted to the X on the inside. Without more disassembly I cannot say for sure how it is attached to the X.

Your hanger appears to have been removed from the insulating strap so has no way to connect to that plate. The hanger is riveted right in the middle to a piece of the insulating strap material which is about 4 cm wide and 16cm long. The strap is then bolted to the reinforcing plate at each end..

Here are a few photos of my 2122 and also a cut from the 22nd series frame illustration that shows the support piece attached to the frame. Since you have a limo I can't say what differences there might be in the LWB frame.

Looking at your #4 again, it looks to have a shorter arm than mine. Is there any piece below the tail pipe the hanger could attach with that shorter arm and have the U clamp facing upward instead of hanging down? How about anyplace where the pipe comes close to the frame and the piece could attach from the side. Sometimes rather than supporting items from the insulating material there is a square piece of the material placed between a bracket and a solid object.
