My brother found this Packard plate while metal detecting. I know nothing about Packard but I figured someone here may know a lot about these or be interested in it.

Any info would be appreciated especially if I can help with a restoration.

That exact style tag has been found on 1909 Model 18 & Model 30 cars, and both the 1907 and 1910 styles are different so it appears to be a tag used for 1908-1909. That it has 51 patents listed identifies it as a 1909 tag (the 1908 tag had 43 patents listed). I believe the specific vehicle number is for a model 18, only about 800 produced.

The above information from a privately published volume on Packard Patent Plates.

A rather rare piece of Packard memorabilia, but now just a display item. Unless, of course, your metal detecting brother can find the remainder of the Packard!

Thanks for the info. I had no idea it was so old. Any 1909 owners out there that want this to go with their restoration?
