is it possible to retrofit an overdrive to my 1949 deluxe 4 dr sedan with manual transmission ? engine revs too high at 70 mph.

Yes you can fit an overdrive, it was a factory option on your car at the time. There are many, many posts on this, please try the "search" function and you'll find plenty of info.

And please, delete your extraneous posts on this topic, one is enough.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.

In addition to deleting your redundant posts, next time consider searching first. As stated, there are many existing threads here. However, that doesn't mean you don't have to do some homework to figure it out.
Look thruand study the good parts books and service manual content on this site.

The site is slow to post. People can tend to get a touch impatient with it. I know, because I do, too.


And some of us are grumpier than others. We are all going to be okay, most likely.


There should be a trans w/ o/d for sale in the parts section. If I weren't so damned lazy, I'd hunt it down for you.
