Vacuum Advance

I have a Delco Remy Vacuum Advance - Part # 1116042 Stem # 344 on a Delco Remy distributor 1110811 9A7.

It needs to be replaced and I am having trouble finding one.

Currently on eBay I found a Delco Remy vacuum advance - Part # 1116057 Stem # 3440.

Are these parts interchangeable?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Thor - I would suggest reaching out to Terrill Machine in TX and send them your advance to have rebuilt. It was returned in "like new" condition. The benefit here, too, is that you ensure that you're going to get the equipment back that was meant to go with your distributor. The service took a while (I think mostly because I went through one of the vendors, so I'd say go directly to Terrill), so just be prepared to go without the advance for a while.

In the meantime, if you haven't had your distributor rebuilt, I'd recommend Advanced Distributors in Minnesota. Quick turn-around, "like-new" condition, ensures your bushings and centrifugal advance are up to snuff. Great experiences with both vendors. Good luck!

I don't have the exact same vacuum advance, but mine is not reproduced, and there nothing that replaces it, so had to have it rebuilt. Apparently my vacuum advance was only used for a few years back in the 50's. Spring, arm, stop, etc. all have to be correct for it to work properly, which is obvious when I think about it, but until I started researching my vacuum advance I just hadn't thought about it. I'm sure the one that is currently on the car is not working correctly. (I'll be putting the rebuilt one on soon.)

This is who rebuilt mine for me and I was super pleased with the results.

Hello Everyone!
I went to the went to the Delco Remy web page and they have a find a part tab (https://www.delcoremy.com/find-a-part ). I put in the part number for my vacuum advance and it stated that Part # 1116041 had been superseded by Part # 1116057 and that Part # 1116057 had been superseded by 1116145.

I ordered the part that I found in the original post. I will let y'all know if it is interchangeable.

Good Luck

Your eBay vacuum advance may still require rebuilding, or may soon, as the diaphragm will still be pretty old. Just something to keep an eye on, like everything else on our old cars!
