I remember some talk on here about an optional rear window wiper. Looks to me like they DID exist! Little pricey BIN price, but then again I'd imagine that this is a rare option.

Yeah Eric, a rarely seen option. I'm not even sure what years it was available but the most recent one I've seen was on Dan Kanter's 51 or 52 2-dr 200.

Parts book shows "Rear Window Cleaner Equipt." (PA422968) for several, though not all, 24th-25th Searies (1951-52) models.

However, I seem to recall having seen them installed on later years - even on a V8.

That is one option I question the value of. Don't think I've ever seen a sloped fully exposed back glass really in need of that type cleaning--not like a station wagon or van where the crud just layers and won't clear off.

I'd like to add one to my '48, I think it would come in handy.

Rear wiper is handy on a fast back style of car more useful for removing dew and snow. I remmeber my uncles 1948 Olds had one. I know I always liked them on my wagons 1964 Buick had one as did my sport utility vehicles with a rear washer great to have even comes in handy removing dust from rear window on dirt dusty roads .

I'll concede the snow and early morning dew on the fastbacks. Never thought about that as it's been many years since being around any snow and my drivers are fortunate enough to be garaged so miss the dew.

Someone is looking to try to cash in with that $500 Buy it Now price!

Perhaps it is only 51-52 as they had a 3-piece rear window and this only cleans that middle section.

Yes Owen, I think it shows up in the accessary book for the 51. Sure would like to have one. Bet it would cost plenty even on ebay.

I'm thinking that a rear wiper from a hatchback car or minvan/SUV might be adaptable to most cars. Most of them are one speed on/off anyway. 12V though....
