Emil,

The hood ornament pictured in the auction is for 1948-50 models, not 1946-47 and will not fit properly on the 1947 hood.

The 21st series cormorant hood ornament is a combination of the standard, bullet shaped ornament with the pelican situated atop the bullet. The following image is of a 21st series Custom Super Limo that was on display at the Warren, Ohio show this weekend.

G'day Emil,
to PackardInfo.

I invite you to include your '47 Deluxe Clipper Club Sedan in the Packard Owner's Registry here, together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it?

Thanks guys for the input on my thread. I guess I won't be bidding on it then, although it seems it is difficult to distinguish between the hood ornaments of 1947 and 1948. To me the one in the picture taken in Warren OH looks the same as the one in the eBay auction.

I will also put my cars in the owner's registry as soon as I get around to it - got to check the VIN numbers, etc.

I have '47 Deluxe Clipper Club Sedan
'41 120 Touring Sedan
'37 115c Touring Sedan
'37 120 Touring Sedan (parts car)
'29 626 Coupe (basket case)

Cheers,
Emil.

Emil,

Quite a collection there. Looking forward to seeing them in the Packard Owner's Registry.

they are most easily distinguished by the front of the base: the Clipper cormorant base still has the stylized bulb of the base ornament visible. The bathtub one does not. The bathtub one is unfortunately for you much more commonly found.
