So I rebuilt the front end suspension and it works like a dream, but my steering box is so loose (free play on the top side) meaning the lower side that connects to the suspension idler arm has very little slack if any but on the (steering shaft side it has so much free play that I cant enjoy the drive constantly having to play the steering wheel from side to side while driving. Does anyone rebuild these steering boxes or have one that is rebuilt or just some help in solving this problem? I'm almost to the point of pulling out my hair....

Check the shop manual section -https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/article/view.category.php?18 it gives instructions on adjusting the steering box.
