Thanks Big Kev, I needed a laugh today. Any other ideas where I'll just have to do this one time?

The service manual shows O rings on the spool valve plus what appears to be the normal seal arrangement on the internal power cylinder. As to whether the vendors might have a kit for the Monroe is another question.

What are you referring to as the Pitman arm stud? The stud from the PS cylinder that is bolted to the Pitman arm??
If you need to rebuild the Monroe cylinder, I believe the usual suspects have the kit. Group #15.625 part number 474217 Attach file: (9.41 KB)

Yes Randy, it's leaking from the bottom of that stud. Is there anything special I need to know before I tackle rebuilding the cylinder? Is this the only way to stop the leak? They do have the kit. Thanks.

Worst case is pitting or excessive wear on the piston rod which would necessitate getting it spray-welded oversize, remachined, and hard-chrome plated back to original dimensions. If that were the case you'd probably be better buying a rebuilt cylinder from Lares or perhaps one of the major Packard vendors who may stock such an item.

When you disasssemble the cylinder you will know if the kit will do the job or you need to look for a good used one and put the kit in that one. I got lucky and bought an NOS cylinder on ebay - just a lucky break.

Lares advertises heavily in nearly all the major hobby print publications and has done so for years. They are a major rebuilder of power steering and similar units. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll scan one of their ads for you tomorrow.
