My 1954 Packard convertible has a 3 speed manual transmission with Overdrive. Didn't all 5479 series vehicles come with Ultramatic transmissions? Brand new to the Packard Forum and I appreciate any insight here. Thank you.

Ultramatic was standard equipment in the 1954 convertible so I'd assume you car was altered at some point in it's past. Image below from the 1954 Salesman's Data Book.

According to the RPO list the Ultramatic was standard equipment with no listing for a manual with overdrive. If you could post some photos of the tranny and it's linkage components, perhaps it could be determined whether this was a special-ordered factory installation or a post-manufacture conversion. Either way it's an interesting vehicle.

for including your '54 Convertible Coupe in the Registry. Although.......you didn't have to do it 10 times! But not to worry because, as the Registry Ambassador, I deleted the extras.

thank you for the reply. I thought the Ultramatic was standard from the factory but just wanted to check.

every 54 359 equipped car except for some Henney built models had Ultramatic as std. equipment. Another reason the 54 Cavalier is less common than the Patrician. By the time you brought a 54 Cavalier up to a medium option level it cost the same as a Patrician anyway. Any 54 Convertible with std. shift has been altered.
