but don't go to too much trouble. Was really wondering if it was an Edmunds, other aftermarket manifold, a fabricated manifold or a stock manifold modified for dual carbs.

I have seen it; It is an Edmunds. And the supercharger is a Paxton from the 50's.

I need to correct I mistake I made in an earlier post. This regards the authenticity of 1941-stlye senior tail lights on 1942 junior cars.

On page 1, post #10 I said, "As others have said, there are a number of differences between a 120 and 160. But, every (four of them) 1942 120s I have seen came from the factory with 1941 senior car tail lights." Therefore, I believe that 1941-style senor tail lights on 1942 junior cars it CORRECT.

Yet, on page 2, post #17 I MISTAKENLY said that one of the corrections needed to be made was to sell the senior lights and find correct junior lights. When I said that I had forgotten we were taking about a 1942 model and I was thinking it was a 1941 model. Sorry for the confusion. Keep the senior tail lights on the 1942 junior car.

Hope this clears things up.

We had a 120 convertible in 160 trim at Salado at a previous Meet. It sported the 282 engine and latched vent windows. It was an attractive automobile, more so than a stock 120 (in my opinion). It should have been reclassified into the Modified class, but was not.

For me, it would be a tough decision whether to remove the 160 trim items and make the subject 1942 convertible an authentic 120. I think I would leave it as is and enjoy the enhanced look. This is based upon not caring about how the car would be judged in car shows.

Then, I would start collecting 120 items so I would have them when I got ready to sell it. Install the 120 items and sell the 160 parts as Roger suggests.

The problem I have with these modified 120s is the owners trying to pass them off as 160s. I think they should just call them what they are: 120s with 160 trim. Nothing wrong with that.

Amen - the issue is how the car is represented.

For judging, I think "modified class" is a bit harsh - deductions for the incorrect trim in open Junior feels more appropriate.

I made the same error on the taillights, thinking 42 was like 41. But then I learned yet another thing here.

I think normally, what you said would be appropriate.

Salado classes are for display, and voting is by the participants for their favorite Packard in each class. There are no formal points deduction and formal judging criteria.

I believe the Packard was classified in a pre-war senior convertible class. It should have at least been in a pre-war junior convertible class, but a more appropriate class would have been the modified class because of the extensive trim modifications to the car.
