I'm new to the Packard world having purchased a 1950 Packard 8 earlier this year. Of course, I spent more money than expected getting it mechanically sound, but it's running well now. Next on the list is interior door panels and handles for the front doors, both driver and passenger sides. Do these have to be custom made or can they purchased off the shelf?

Good Evening...You might start by contacting Kanter and Max Merritt...They are two of the larger parts suppliers and they well might have what you are looking for. Call them on the phone rather that e-mail as they don't always have everything on line...Welcome to the Packard world. Ernie in Arizona

G'day PKRD50,
1st post, so to PackardInfo.

One of our Packard Club members, here in Australia, had new door panels made by SMS in Oregon USA. he's really pleased with them. Here's a link about them in the post in his Project Blog.

And......I invite you to include your '50 Eight in the Packard Owner's Registry.

If they are like the 22nd series panels, they are simple and look like a doable project. Couple pieces of stainless (hopefully you have these), plain pattern, vinyl below the lower stainless.

Is it a two door or 4 door? Also, Standard 8, Super 8, or Custom 8?

How about a few pictures? Could tell us a lot about the model, since there were a few.

In 1960 dad purchased a new car and his 50 Packard became mine to drive. Among other projects I changed the interior door and side panels, while I wouldn't choose the same gaudy material today, they weren't difficult to change the cloth depending on your desired level of quality, at the most basic just lay the panel on the cloth of your choice and glue the cloth to the back of the panel, if missing the entire panel seems like it was a composition board similar to Masonite.

I agree not difficult to redo-check out fabric stores in your area-as I remember mine was a tan wool fabric. The arm rest are a different matter mine were some kind of fake leather as well as the kick panels
