I may be late to the game on this topic but I was browsing the Chicago craigslist today and found this.
chicago.craigslist.org/nch/cto/3799101228.html I know that link is only temporary so I swiped a couple images below. According to the listing 3 55-56 Packards were being auctioned off do to a lien for storage fees. All three were in very rough shape but I nearly wept about this one. The ad is very strange as it says the auction was May 3rd but it was posted on May 11th.

Not even close. I know of one that was a nice low mileage car until a destructoration shop got a hold of it. Now it is an empty shell.

Mal, thanks. I believe it could belong to a truck, built before 1920 (sample pic attached). Not absolutely sure but it looks like a solid rubber tire.

You are right Stewart ... that is a very sad lot. The only thing putting those cars to any use over the years appear to have been mice or rats. Too bad the owner hadn't decided to sell the cars off years ago when they were a lot more salvageable. Boy, you hardly ever get to see a Packard truck like that one. I would imagine that there would be a real demand for that.

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...
