I think the chop of the top was done very well. While I like the original body lines, this custom roof line looks really nice.

Considering the condition of the 4 door before the work done to it, that car probably would have gone to the crusher. I'd rather see a tastefully done custom Packard than see it recycled into a Washer & dryer or Refrigerator.

At first glance it looked like a coupe, but it's a nicely done sedan. Too bad about not having a Packard engine though...................!

Before it disappears off Craigslist am posting the ad's description and some of the pic's so they aren't "lost".

We are selling our custom chop top Packard. As you can see in the pictures this was a complete build. Here is a list of what has been done

* chopped the roof 3" in the front and 5" in the rear
* all new glass
* new upholstery and carpet
* complete new wiring from headlights to taillights
*rebuilt 327ci sbc (approx 1500 miles on it)
* rebuilt 700R4 automatic transmission (approx 1500 miles on it)
* Lokar 23" floor shifter
* Ford 9" rear axle with all new ring & pinion and brakes
* new radiator
* new front Brakes
* new blue tooth amp and speakers
* new Coker Classic 3" wide white tires
* new Dual 2.5" exhaust
* custom paint and pinstripes

We built this car for my wife and she has been driving it for the last 2 years. Looking to move on to another classic so we are selling it. There is no rust in this car, we have addressed it all. This is a turn key ready to enjoy car. I have all of the photo documentation of the chop and paint work. It was done right!! Asking $19k obo.

I wonder how scrunched it is with the rear headroom?

Why would it have gone to the crusher? It doesn't look that bad body wise.

I agree John, and while I concur this is a 'nice job', I absolutely loathe chopped cars. Chris.

This is a prefect example of a car that was for sale on CL and other venues for a long time with no takers. No one need cry he didn't have a chance to save it from a customizer. Those guys are on the lookout for unusual cars that are cheap raw material, many 22nd-23rd Series cars are that.

The worst problem with chopped tops is they make an already bottom-heavy looking car even more so. To his credit, he is a skilled metal worker that appears to have the job quite well. The generic powertrain is typical, makes for a far less interesting custom. If someone designed a proportionally attractive car, this fellow could do a nice job building it.

Agree with Stev's comment about an already "chunky" body made to look even chunkier with the chopped top. Thinking that a 6" section on the body in addition to the chop may have resulted in a slick looking car.

Wish I knew something about PhotoShop or similar software, to take one of the pics and 'electronically' section the car.
