The grille is made of potmetal. So removing it is the best case senario as they dont like to bend or twist without breaking! The core support is the really the keystone in the front end sheetmetal.

If you work around the gas tank look for a, probably very fragile, piece of folded paper between the filler neck and the vent tube. I have one from my convertible. It is a build sheet for your car.

After a long break with some other urgent business I'm back to my project. I've completely disassembled the interior and will give it a good pressure washing before I start to scrape and prepare for painting. Incidentally, I have looked for that piece of paper around the gas intake, but have not located anything. Here's a picture of the dismantled interior.

Some have found the build sheet on top of the glove compartment.

The build slip which would have been inserted between the gas tank filler and vent pipes in 1950 would have been the chassis build slip. The final assembly slip was placed above the glove box.
