Packard 1951 ,the car are in good shape but need some work to the body,all brake and gas line repair carburetor,put new tires and change all steering rod .

Welcome to the website. I am sure you you will have a great time getting the '51 back on the road.

That external sun visor is a pretty rare item on a Packard! Also it has side-review mirrors, this was another option not found on many 51-54s. What other options does it have under the hood and on the inside?

The other option on the car is electrical radio antenna,clock and the engine is a 327pc with 4bbl carb and ultramatic tranny.I don't know if i have another option.If you want,i can take picture of the inside of car.

I don't know if i have a problem with my timing or with firing,the engine make back fire in carb.I put a electronic pertronix in distributor because my old ignition parts was worn without spark.

Use about 6 deg. before top dead center. If it tends to run hot, try advancing it slightly.

49 Packard: If your 48 Custom 8 is a renumbered car, that is, a -9- or -5- in the VN, Robert Neal who is writing a book on the bathtub era Packards would love to have that info along with the Briggs body# (tag near the heater). And if you also had the original build slip (over the glove box) that would be a real plus!!! Neal has put his request on this website and in PAC's newsletters but if you can't find it, you could give the info to me to forward to him as I've been in contact with him concerning my 22nd and 23rd series Custom 8s.

Ditto to anyone else with a renumbered car.

The 22nd/23rd series, except perhaps for the Custom 8 series, have had their share of criticism over the years and I think a book dedicated to them would be very well received so it's in our best interests to see that the author has the best information he can gather.
