A note again to John Shireman. I would really like to see a copy of any material related to renumbering, or a reference as to where you saw it.
QUESTION OF THE MONTH: I am seeking to acquire a copy of pictures of all variations of the Macauley Phantom. There are some early versions of this car that i saw pictures of years ago that do not seem to want to surface now. One of you guys must have have them stashed away. The Macauley Phantom tells a significant story in the development of the 1948-1950 cars. HELP Robert neal RJNEAL0000@aol.com

Currently researching 1951 Packards, particularly convertibles and Mayfairs, but anything interesting. Own a 1950 Custom 8 sedan and a 1954 Cavalier, both are restored.

Thanks John,
I will get used to this site some day. I look forward to seeing your email. In checking back to the thread that led me to ask for information on the renumbering data I see that you answered me way back there, saying you had no specifics. I just never managed to see the answer before. Anyway, I still look forward to conversing with you. You can just click on the email address I put in the post and it will address the email for you. Robert

Hi Robert
Just noticed your "thread" in Forums - yes I agree takes some time to get accustomed to the quirks of this site !! I have a 1948 22nd Series Packard Touring Sedan but mine is a SIX - it has a very similar history to africapackard's car in that it too was imported to S.Africa and assembled from a CKD kit by the importers. If you think that any further info. on my car will be of any help let me know and I'll give you the full story upto date - meanwhile if you want to see the car go to my website at www.packard22.co.uk - yes my car now resides here in Great Britain and is currently under restoration. Best wishes Michael

Hi Michael,
Yes, the RHD cars do interest me. I would very much appreciate your giving me the vin number found on the cowl plate as well as the firewall number and the Briggs body number found on the little plate under it. The engine number would also be helpful. Also do you have a good picture of the firewall from the engine side showing where the stearing gear comes through and also one showing the passenger side. Obviously these are two of the main differences between the RHD cars and the ones we always see in the States. There is also a question of how they did the heater on the RHD cars. Does your car have one? Regards, Robert

Thanks for the data. It's unclear to me which one(s) are RHD, can you clarify? And I assume the first set of numbers is the Briggs #, and the last set the vehicle # from the patent plate?

G'day "taximan",
Notice that of the four Packards you detailed only two are in the Registry. Would it be possible to also include the other two? 1948 LWB taxi 2280-2818 ; <774698> ; 2280-2818 In Registry 1948 LWB sedan 2271-2453 ; <814489> ; 2271-2453 1949 sedan taxi 2286-3470 ; <848402> ; 2286-9-3470 In Registry 1949 LWB limo 2277-2857 ; <842438> ; 2277-9-2857 Additionally could you also include your "1950 Super Deluxe sedan that was buried up to the windows in a creek bed" detailed in Post #23 of this thread?packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... rum=12&post_id=13382#forumpost13382 And if there are any more please put 'em in too! Dave, I doubt any of "taximans" Packards are RHD, I think Robert Neals previous post was in response to a post from a UK Packardinfo member.

Thanks all for the recent data on taxis and LWB cars. It is particularly welcome on these rare cars. I don't necessarily get back to this form every day so please forgive any tardy response. Any one who wishes, or who needs to be sure I respond rapidly can send me emails directly as my address is in my posts.
Yes, my response was to Michael from the UK who posted information regarding the RHD car he has. Robert
