Visitors are always welcome here at Speedwell Garage. Forum member Michael Toborg (tobs) and his friend Katrin stopped in from Germany for a few parts and hands-on research. There are always good coffee, homemade bread, and roadster rides available in northern Baltimore country. Stop in.

Hi Ross,

Looks like we'll be going by your place next Friday and Sunday on our way to the Reading Mid Atlantic Air Museum Show next weekend.

I could use a better rear bumper bullet for my convertible. That left one is a little rusty. Do you have any kicking around?

I would love to spend some at the Ross shop! Maybe one day!

Al.....

I see the grill has been modified. I used to own a 1964 50th anniversary dart. Slant 6. Junked it like a dumbass. Still got the grill and brake lenses etc... You need the grill? Lol jk. I see your good with the Packard one

One tidbit.... I'm now the owner of a 1970 Swinger. Dad gave it to me for a buck last week

Hi Guscha, Yep. That is still me. Was a very cool time at Speedwell Garage. Got some packard seat time, and also a feel for what a maintained, lubed and adjusted packard feels and drives like. Things like windows that easily crank up and down, brakes that have actually very little pedal travel when adjusted properly, and driving a car with overdrive were all 'firsts' for me. Got two or three handfulls of parts for my clipper, and also got to discuss certain repair/rebuild procedures I have coming up.
Was very much worth the trip. fyi look out for ticks if you are taking parts off the 'packards in the weeds'
Still trying to get over my jet lag after returning to Germany :-/

Nope don't need them. My stock dart is a 65 convertible and the 64 won't fit. As far as the car in the picture, it has 59 caddy bullets and I would have to restore the car back to stock to use the grille and I already have one.

Thanks anyway.

Had an open house here at Speedwell Garage as part of a Mid-Atlantic Packards meet. Strawberry shortcake for all.

Paul Delaney had a conversation with Dick Teague many moons ago in which Dick bemoaned the fact that because of tooling considerations Packard could not bring out the Clipper based convertible he wanted to compete in the Olds 98/ Buick Roadsmasher price class. It would have been called the Clipper Polo. Now Paul does revel in the unique (he has the original Everet Hatch drag race car), so he decided to make a Clipper Polo.

Last summer I fabricated beefy torque boxes and welded them behind new rockers on Pauls's other black 56 hardtop. Part of the open house entertainment was to remove the steel top, the next step before installing a salvaged top mechanism.

I let Paul take a ceremonial first cut before I finished up the decapitation. You can see the car is going to have very nice lines--and no I am not giving the crowd the finger, I am motioning Paul to come take the first Polo test drive. I am pleased to report that the underbody strengthening was a great success and the car is tight as a tick with less door gap motion than one would see on a Caribbean.
