That '39 looks OK for a custom, although the hot V-8 under the hood is a bit of a shock. I am not at all fond of those wire wheels -- that wreath in the hub cap looks like a Cadillac emblem. The steering wheel makes me wonder if it came from a 1930s Ford, with the "V8" atop the horn. I would have kept the original steering wheel; that would have at least gone with the car.

Finally, the owner gripes about trying to sell this rod for $35,000, comparing his car to those on eBay that sell for $89,000. Surprise! Those cars happen to be original in great condition.

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

There is room in the junk yard since he doesn't have a place for it anymore.

As well, those pictures don't even match.

I just talked to the seller and he told me that he doesn't have the original engine. according to him you can find Packard engines a dime a dozen. Independent frontend, disc brakes and a 9" rear end. It needs a new top.

Hi

A triplet of '55 Clipper Constellation hardtops:

A red & white, supposedly low mileage but looks very tatty:

A weathered blue, Kansas car, left quarter damage, cheap:

A surface-rusty cream colored, pricy:

BDC, I saw that same vehicle for sale on another site and it was said to be a Superior, not a Henney. That would be a surprise as Packard's contract to supply Henney with chassis for such vehicles was an exclusive supply contract. Superior supplied Studebaker almost exclusively in the 20s and early 30s, then ambulances/hearses primarily on GM chassis, mostly Cadillac with an occasional Oldsmobile or Pontiac on occasion. I believe they went belly-up about 1974.

Here's the link: same vehicle? Clearly says its by Superior.

Dave,

At the bottom of the eBay listing is a note saying it's NOT a '39 Superior but a '38 Henney.
