Those old Packard carburetors with the butterfly float need very low fuel pressure. A suitable gravity feed tank with micro switch shutoff could be engineered. As well, low compression combined with leaking intake manifold gaskets will make for big misfires.

Let this case be a lesson for everybody attempting to "upgrade" fuel systems. A practice I dread as much as painting radiator shells that were originally chrome plated. Yuk.
