The grill is unbolted. It comes out the front I suppose, not the radiator side. Seems to be reluctant to come out.

Bump....already goy several barks in the paint trying to get it out. The grill is all unbolted. Should it slide out the front? Is there something I am missing?

Appin,
Sorry none of here could give you more help. Your post had over 200 views. It seems there is little or no experience just removing the grille. Good luck getting it out. Please do us a favor and let us know how you finally get it removed. This question will probably come up again, and it would be nice to have an answer for the next person. (o[]o)

There are two bolts at the top and two at the bottom and several along the sides. Just keep shining the light till you make sure you have found them all. It's ackward sitting on the edge of the engine so if you have time do it when the car is all apart.
All were out and all I did was bark the paint trying to be "gentle". No trick to it, it should push out but didn't. Finally roped my riding mower to it and it finally popped out without damage. Although I generally wouldn't recommend a riding mower as a Packard tool, seventy years of being stuck together is a long time.

Apparently all ended well, tho' sorry none of us could help.
I had the grille out of my '40 120 when i rebuilt it in 1974-76, so, as mentioned, the above from memory. And i'da remembered more if it was such a battle as you had. Wondering if at the factory Packard might've installed some light canvas/cloth strip around the grille where it fit against the sheet metal, and over the many years on your car Down Under it might've harbored moisture and rusted, "glued" your grille in place? But, all's well that ends well.

Glad you finally had success - I didn't have any experience to draw on, so was of no help. Sorry!
