Mystery Rear End

I need some help identifying a rear end. I acquired this rear end hoping I could fit it into my 38 jr coupe but it seems a no go. It's 55 1/4" backing plate to backing plate and has 11" brakes. I could find no casting numbers but it is marked 4.09

4.09 to 1 is the gear ratio. 11"drums are 6 cyl.
If your 3rd member looks like this one just swap them.

I knew the 4.09 ratio. My center section is totally different than this one. The yoke on mine is 90 deg from the housing. Also mine is narrower that this one

Phil,

My , I think ratio could be 4.69, to my eye looks more like a '6' than an '0'. And it's probably an earlier year senior diff, there is a name for that type of pumpkin but it escapes me at the moment. I know Wade's '34 The Fossil(mechanical brakes) and '37 Big Red(hydraulic brakes) both have this type of diff. Pretty sure 4.69 was more or less the standard ratio around that time.

You're right. I didn't see the wheel cylinders.

It looks the same as the 120 and 115C but is too wide between the brake backing plates.

The Junior rear ends are narrower.
