Linseed (not lindseed) oil has historically been a major component of all oil-based (non-latex) enamels.

Decades ago, I'd heard that Rustoleum's key ingredient for thwarting rust was some sort of fish oil.

Riki,
I am sorry but I don't have any idea as to whether or not linseed oil is used in Rustoleum. BH suggests fish oil, which might be true. Have also seen the online things about fish oil being main ingredient in WD-40. Perhaps O_D will have the last word. One bit of caution- take any linseed oil rags you might have and put in pail of water when finished with. Spontaneous combustion hazard is very real.
