Front door insulated, and original doors panels installed. I was missing one of the pins that hold on the handles to the shaft, but a cut off wheel and an appropriate diameter nail fixed that issue.

The doors now feel and sound like a bank vault door closing.

Kev, you're making marked progress! I'm excited to go for a ride again in January. What an incredible difference from last time. Maybe your progress will kick me in the butt to get some projects knocked out.

Quite a difference on both fronts. The Clipper has gained weight while BigKev isn't so big!

Well done, Not so big Kev!

Went on Friday night and got a quart of DTM primer and single stage paint to use on the dash, steering wheel, and interior metal parts.

Found a Valspar color called Dark Charcoal Metallic that is pretty much a dead on match for my original dash color. Only difference is the modern metallic has a heavier flake then the original color.

So today all the parts were prepped and primed. They will get sanded with some 400 grit paper, and then shot with the single stage.

Kevin, it's been awhile since I checked on your progress and I am completely floored by your progress. One in that I am diabetic so I know how hard it is to lose weight but you have conquered that monumental task very well. As for the car, excellent and well done! You have put a lot of time and effort into your restoration and it has obviously paid off based on the quality of your workmanship. Congratualtions on your accomplishments...

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. I am also diabetic, and I was able to lose 85lbs since X-Mas. Working on the car, helped keep me out of the kitchen. So a win-win.

No progress this week as I am in Windsor, CT for business. But hopefully will get to spray some paint on the interior metal pieces when I return next week.

Gotta say BigKev that your progress is about twice as fast as mine. Your car is looking great.

The silver door covering in above pic - I think you said in #1791 that it is Dynamat? Is it the same or similar to what I've read about from Lowes, which has some sort of cells ('bubbles') in it for insulation?

I was going to just use heavy polythene as a liner but that stuff would be much more effective and is a classy product as well. Did you glue it or is it sticky on one side?

On the doors and kick panels, this is what I used:

thermotec.com/products/14600-suppressor-acoustical-heat-control-mat.html

It is basically the same as Dynamat (butyl rubber and foil) and very flat and forms well to the panels. The stuff with the bubbles in it would be too thick to use under the door panels.

I bought it via Amazon as I have a Prime account, so shipping was free.
