By the way guys - I'm 41. Also, I never would have posted this build had the modification section not been created. I can understand if this is a little "out there" for this site. I also post on forums that cater to this type of build and it is well recieved. I will only continue to post if it does not continue to cause any drama.

I apprecite that you like what I have done thus far PACKPRINCE, but in your previous post you said I was "bored shitless and on crack" and "butchered" an otherwise valuable car. You are entitled to your opinion but please stand by it.

Gold -

Unlike some other sites, nowhere on the PackardInfo site does it say "no discussion of modifications is permitted". Also, and as you pointed out, BigKev specifically set up the Modifcations Discussion forum to accomodate this aspect of the hobby.

However, with all due respect, your choice of words for the Subject of this thread could have been better; I have to wonder if it may have (unintentionally) provided some bait for flamers.

Now, even as something of a purist, I'm not bothered by what you're doing with your car. That doesn't necessarily mean that I like it (or that I have to), but as long as it's your name on the title, you're entitled to do with the car as you please.

Yet, whatever you do with your car, don't do things with an eye toward seeking the praise of others. Do what will make YOU happy with YOUR car, look out for people trying to get their hands in your pocket, and to heck with people who wanna engage in a dick wavin' contest.

I agree BH. The title is unintentional and misleading. I have been on and around enough forums to know that you are always going to upset some people. No harm, no foul. I never build for praise, been doing it way to long to care about that.

I have however come to the conclusion that this type of modification is a bit too much for even this area of the forum, even though most have seemed to enjoy it.

If anyone is interested in seeing any future progress, please follow this link:

OLDGOLD: I would be certainly a shame to see you leave this web site.

One option for you would be is that if you don't want to post any more about the modifications about your Packard in this forum. Do the following come back to this thread a direct us to the link you posted, informing us of updates.

PLEASE STAY

Hey Old-gold,
I think your doin a hell of a job! If it says "Packard" on it ,I hope someone finds a way to keep it on the road!
Don't run off because someone acts like a 3 year old that needs a nap. Some folks are purist and others don't mind the custom, but I think we can all apreciate the skill, time and love that has went into your car.We all have something to offer here at this fantastic website.Thank you Bigkev for not letting the thread get out of hand.My Grama used to say "We all need direction, and a good spanking will always help you find a map"
That's my two cents,
I'm 44 and my friggin cigar lighter is still busted !

Wish you would not leave my feeling is this site is for people to do there own work with the technical help from here and moral support. Don't think anyone here has a problem with a individual modifying their car its yours to do as you see fit. I liked the results you were getting and admired your ability.I think the group will suffer from your leaving.

Before packprince hijacked this thread it was doing fine. If oldgold will stay and post his progress, it looks like we would all enjoy it. It's his thread, but I sure hope he stays - he's a real craftsman.

Old Gold,

"Free speech" while a blessing also has some downsides because it applies to all irrespective of the value, intent and content of the contributions. All I can say is your contributions are valued and ask you to stay on board. Please.

OldGold,

As the others have already said, we welcome your creative contributions her on website, and would them to continue here. None of the drama really had anything to do directly with you, just a case of someones sourgrapes, and them using your thread as their soapbox. So please don't let one one bad apple spoil the entire bag.

We are all curious to follow your build thorugh completion, so please come back and give us updates!
