Oh, I didn't mean to suggest a club coupe instead of a Packup - though that might be interesting as well.

What I meant was that the Dodge/Desoto business coupe has a profile that just begs for a pickup. In fact, the aperture for the door glass reminds me of the treatment on the 73-77 ElCamino - though the latter used a hardtop style of door.

Yet, those vehicles might have had a longer door to work with.

WRT to load capacity, when Dodge first introduced the Dakota, they stamped a couple sets steps/pockets in the inner bedsides and another on the inside and just below the topof the wheel tubs to accept 2x6s(laid flat) to overcome the lack of width between the tubs. Thus, with tailgate down and 2x6s installed, that truck could haul several full sheets of plywood, drywall, etc. - nice and flat. Other manufacturers followed suit in their subsequent redesigns.

Just food for thought.

I think a well done coupe or open touring conversion would be fantastic.

As for the pickup truck, well you would be better off buying a second hand pickup truck. You can get a truck anywhere but nobody has a coupe or touring from that year.

Winter is already getting to me. It is about zero fun to run a car workshop in cold weather. Ran across these warmer images of only a few months ago that made me feel better. The over-the-dash view was particularly cheering.

Oh, and had a new sign made for the place and had the thousandollarwonder included in the artwork. Click to enlarge.

Nice sign but was the artist feeling well that day? The way the grill turned out, it kind of looks like he put a frown on the Packard --

Ross, nice sign incorporating the old with the new. Is one for the Speedwell Garage in the future?

The customer said he wanted something "outrageous", and I do like to keep the customers satisfied. On top of this chassis will be a new type of Packup with a coupe type roof.

Sehr cool! I like the Double air filters. Period correct and stylish.
Man, and Aluminium head and edmonds intake?! Those two things in one place is outrageous. Am curious to how well you get that Engine performing. At least you Took a chunk of weight off The front end.
