A shame this one isn't being restored. Super rare body style, that looks very solid. I'm linking in case anyone needs the parts.

Truly a shame, as you say. So few coupe-victorias were built much less survive. Really handsome with the rear-mounted spare. They were at best about 4% of production in a year where the total Eight production was only 2980 vehicles. Who ever is rodding it should be tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail.

West, just to be correct, it's not a Standard Eight but just an Eight, or standard Eight (lower case "S") if you must use the word. 1932 was the last year the word Standard was used to designate the smaller 8-cylinder series.

To me the ad is confusing. He shows a car but lists the parts by name for sale as a package only. Is it the car for sale or just the parts?

Just the parts in his text. Reading between the lines, and it doesn't take much imagination, the car is being rodded.

Probably won't make any difference other than to make me feel better, but I did email the owner with my thoughts. Maybe if some others so the same, who knows, he might be swayed.

An absolute travesty!!!!!

The cost of restoring the car exceeds the value and so it is worth having only for an enthusiast. In the old days it might get a backyard restoration as a fun car.

Recently I was talking with somebody here in automotive Detroit about our mutual old car experiences. We are both rather disinterested because the modern car engineering field is about doing things. I may not agree with what is going on, but at least it is a decent place to work.

Anyway, he knew this guy who is into big money street rods and muscle cars. The guy couldn't care less about the cars, only about what they get at an auction. So to him the old car hobby is bxllshxt. Somebody like that will look at a Packard the same way you look at a burned out light bulb. Hopefully the market will crash and burn.

Unfortunately backyard restorations are an endangered species as well.

If it was the '33 2-4 coupe I would be sad because that is one of my favorites. I'll bet Frank Wemple doesn't want to hear about this poor car.

very sad how this car is being destroyed, has this guy looked at street rod prices lately???? they are sinking like the Titanic! Original is back baby!!!!!
