If you people KNEW what you were talking about, you'd know that GM and FORD and CHRYSLER were SO taken back and impressed by those sales figures of those high quality post 1950 Packards, that by 1957 they "threw in the towel" and gave up, and started car clubs for their own brands...making "conversion kits" so you could install that brilliant Packard ULTRAMATIC transmission in GM, FORD, and CHRYSLER cars... (to improve reliability and performance...of course....!)

I like the above answer the best. Dialogue goes: "Honey, I tried to sell it but, ya know, the market is down and no one would buy it. Sorry..."

I appraise cars for a living and thanks to this find, i am going to insure my 55 packard for 175,000.. cause it was restored of course. The sad thing is some dumb car appraiser might actually try to use this one day now that it is archived on the web..

ROTFL..Great Find!

I too sent him a message, but in my smart-a$$ed nature, I decided to have a little fun. This is what I sent: "I really enjoyed your listing, a $500 car that's only worth about $20,000 restored for $79,000, you made my night!"

And this is his reply: "IM GLAD I COULD HELP, "

I'm still rolling over this this morning!

Another possible reason for the high price may be that he has made a lot of bad investments in his retirement plan or other investments and hopes some one is willing to bail him out with a outlandish price. If he can sell his cars at the prices he is asking I would like to have him sell some items for me. Also agree with Craig in that cars with overpriced asking prices are what I call for sale by order of wife sales. Wife says "put that thing up for sale" husband does knowing that only a fool would pay his asking price if it sells they are both happy if not she is happy as that Thing is up for sale. When you go to car shows a cruises you see many cars with these kind of prices on them. The best bargains to be had are when a divorce or death of owner are involved sort of fire sales.

It's obvious that he is not looking for $79,000. Give it a rest. He's trying to part out the car.

West: I thought that BIGKEV was the moderator here. If there
is mistake in the posted selling price the person should be smart enough to change it.
