Why are thair groves in the disc for ?
To promote smoother engagement without clutch chatter.

As minor function the depth of grooves are good indicators for the degree of wear of clutch discs.

Thank you for your help, the smooth disc seems heavier duty . I am trying to add pictures but can't ! What does the smooth disc made for.. Dave
