Hello, just wanted to introduce the beast, and myself. This had been sitting at my grandmother's house since 1970. Its a 1930 740? Limousine. (Wheel base 140.5) though some of the engine seems to be 1931,and some1933, and the distributor is a chrysler solar spark from 37. So a bit of a Frankenstein.

I have lots of questions, ill try and use the search button first.

I'll be following your posts with nterest. The carburetion and manifolding is 1933 or 1934 as determined by a number of features including the automatic choke (missing) mounting flange on the intake manifold.

It would be interesting to know some history.

If the Frankenstein modifications were due to the depression and war necessity or maybe finances and junkyard availability that would be one thing. A deliberate attempt to "improve" the original engine with more modern components would be another story so it would be equally interesting to know how successfully implemented it might have been.

At any rate the person who did the mods would get my vote for ingenuity in making all the mismatch work -- assuming it all did work together and was not the reason the car was parked.

The family story is that the car arrived in boxes. As for making the mish mash work, my grandpa was known for that in his small town I have come to learn. It worked for sometime i believe. I do not know the reason it was parked, but i can say i currently have the water pump sent off for repair, and i had the starter cleaned and repaired, so i could have been one of those two things, or any 1000 other things.

How about some numbers, most especially the first 3:

Vehicle number from the patent plate
Motor number
Theft-proof number
Steering gearbox number
Frame number

Hi, Good to see someone else with a sense of fun. Jean-Luc-Packard was the name my wife gave to our 34 when we got him back in 2008. He is now residing with my niece and nephew in Australia. Good luck with your project and hope you have as much fun as we did with our Jean-Luc
Regards
T
