Linseed (not lindseed) oil has historically been a major component of all oil-based (non-latex) enamels.

Stephen,
I wonder if Rust-oleum uses lindseed oil? in their paint.

Probably a trade secret if they do. Spray stuff I'm using lists several ingredients with 10 dollar names ending in "ene", "ol" & "one" which are listed first so must be the major ones. A little barium sulfate, some kind of talc, alkyd resin (which might be linseed oil), and carbon black thrown in for good measure all topped off with propellant.

It stinks enough that I'm surprised C.A.R.B. hasn't banned it.

Decades ago, I'd heard that Rustoleum's key ingredient for thwarting rust was some sort of fish oil.

Riki,

I am sorry but I don't have any idea as to whether or not linseed oil is used in Rustoleum. BH suggests fish oil, which might be true. Have also seen the online things about fish oil being main ingredient in WD-40. Perhaps O_D will have the last word.

One bit of caution- take any linseed oil rags you might have and put in pail of water when finished with. Spontaneous combustion hazard is very real.

Here is a rough sketch that I did of the body mounts on a 1956 Four Hundred. Your Clipper should be similar.

Also a copy of the parts book frame illustration with the mounting location numbers added.
