Good Morning...You might try Kanter or Max Merritt...they will have or know where to obtain, I should think...Also perhaps NAPA. Ernie in Arizona

Try another tire store(s).
I had that issue on my P/U once. the tire place put in too long stems with a set of tires, all they had in stock. I got them changed at another tire shop later. I'm not sure what size the P rims take. Haven't dealt with that one as there's different styles, the rubber pop-in and the steel threaded. Mine were OK.

I had the same problem with my '50 Custom when I had Diamond Back tubeless radials installed. I bought 4 stems at NAPA that extend two inches from the rim including the cap. I paid $3.11 in 2009 for a set of four.

If you can get metal valve stems (chrome) then do it, then you won't have to worry about "migrating" hubcaps on radial tires.

Walmart sells them.
But with wheel covers your better off with these. amazon.com/dp/B075K6NPJF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ ... BRMER7NY7FZYK9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Quite a regular

I bought some valve stems from Amazon but went with metal stems sometimes wheel covers magically rotate and can slice the rubber ones but that may just be my unfortunate experience lol

If you search amazon, you should be able to find 5/8 (.625) valve stems in both rubber snap in and metal bolt in styles in all sorts of stem lengths. Probably less than $10 for a set.

Always use metal ones for every car you own. They are much better for holding Air pressure.

Maybe 1956 is different but the shop that powder-coated the wheels and mounted the tires for me a while back on my 1956 Clipper had no trouble with the stems. As was already suggested, try a different shop!
