So it would be 1940 through 1949 22nd series? Somebody in another thread was looking for one just a day or two ago.

I don't think so Don, I believe 1940 and maybe 1941 used the R-6.

I understood that 1939 was the last year of the R6 but I could be mistaken.

Believe the documented use was R6 in 39 only, 40 thru early to mid 48 used the R9 in a junior and senior size and after the mid year 48 changeover to the R11, that version was used in different size and case configurations until the end.

This was on a 9 main 356 (or 359). So, junior? My reference materials stop at 47. How can we verify? No matter what, helluva nice trans here...

If it's a senior transmission, then the front pilot would be too large for a junior although possibly it's a matter of changing out the bushing in the crankshaft.
