41 - 120 Converible Coupe

I just purchased a 41 coupe that needs "some assembly and painting required".

Three questions:
1-Is there a illustrated manual that covers assembly of trim and interior?

2- What color should the roof tops bows be?

3 - Is the wood that is attached to the windshield easy to replace?

Thank You
Gar

There are some illustrations in the parts book for ‘35 to ‘41 or ‘42. Plus it lists each item needed.
They should be the same color as the steering column.
If you mean the convertible top bow, there’s a fellow who advertises in club magazines/newsletters who makes new ones. If you mean the interior windshield surround, that metal painted to look like wood.
Someone who has a ‘41 May know better.

These are pictures of my 42, same as 41 only upholstry pattern is different. I can send any pictures you might require. The dash, column and top parts are all the same color. Wooden header for top is a bugger to make and know of no one making them, I repaired mine. Dell

How did you repair the wooden header? What did you use?

Thanks

I cut out rotten areas and glued in birch and grund to contour with a six inch 50 grit disc. In areas that would not receive staples bondo (just a little) was used to restore contour. Then seal with varnish to make water resistant. Make sure the header is on the car if you need to make major repairs.

Yes, the header on my '37 was very punky too, but there was enough there to take a bunch of cross sectional patterns. Then, starting with a 4x4 I slowly ground it down to match the patterns using an angle grinder and 40 grit disk. Plenty of test fits onto the window frame too.

West Systems makes some products that will allow stabilizing wood problems. Once I was working on a 56 and made the mistake of grabbing the fender when rolling on the creeper. Crunch. It was an original car and I put the metal back into place and back filled it with G-Flex clear. 24 hours later and you would never know there was a problem. You can build a boat with that stuff unlike those crappy TV products.

Thanks, I will reach out and see if they can remake mine for a reasonable fee. If not, it looks like I may buy some wood and make my own...
