I'm still looking for two trunk rack trim stips that fit the JR cars if anyone has any leads.

Yes, the ones others have found are about 3/4" too long. I think the senior ones are longer.

Order the missing trunk rack trim strips from Max Merrit. They currently reproduce the straight strips. Not cheap, but at least they are available.

Circling back to these mysterious loops, Gary's 115c does show any evidence of them. Does anyone else with a 36/37 with a rumble seat have them?
Who knows? Perhaps someone's early attempt as a seatbelt mount for the kids? Can't think of what else there would have been used for.

Sounds like a good guess; seat belt mounts.
I have a Canadian car, and our rust belt extends from sea to sea to sea, so mine was very rusty in this area and had to be rebuilt but I saw no archival evidence of those loops. I was watching to see if anyone else did but I suspect you are correct Kev in that these were used as a strap anchor. Bob J.

The technical term for those is "Footmans Loops", but I cannot say that I've ever encountered them in that location.
Left field speculation they were added by someone long ago to secure something...

On my 1940, the footman loops are attached to the metal panels on either side of the rear seat back cushion in order to secure the straps that hold down the convertible top so the canvas doesnt billow out at 70.

Interesting Joe. But probably not the application here as there are very far rearward. Primitive seat belt anchors are really the only thing I can think of as they would be right behind the back edge of the rumble seat bottom cushion.
