I´m now in the process to rebuilt the last parts before I start to rebuild the car. Most parts are finished … means restored or rebuild and wait for install … whole body parts are now at the paint shop for the final coat after I have done in too many month … the work I most hate. Putty and grinding …and putty and grinding and putty and grrrrrrrrrrrrr….
Right now I finish the frame work and made the Leaf Gators. I use the best 2mm thick shoe-leather I could find. After this I will build the main exhaust muffler in original style. Maybe someone has the original measurements …. diameter of all 3 hoses, length and diameter of the holes which are at the two inside hose.
After this I´ll finish the upholstery work. Upholster spring core frame I made 2 years ago and also all door and site/kick panels. I´ll show this later in details at a project blog here in PI.

Thanks for the pix, lovely outstanding work, and can't wait to see the finished product. By the way, the spring wraps are "gaiters", not gators.

I couldn't agree more! I was going to say that it looks like new but as Guscha pointed out, it is BETTER than new!

Karl,

I am thoroughly impressed. The work you are doing and the care you are taking is outstanding. I look forward with excitement to see the finished product. Did you make the gaiters yourself?

Big Kev, Dave, Gerd, Don and Phil, thank you for your nice and friendly comments. They push me a little bit more to finish the work on my car fast enough that I´ve the time to drive it some years.
Dave , thank you for the kind correction about my “gator”. This help me to learn a bit more because I´ll not forget it now. I know that my English is more than lousy. And believe me … this is the most terrible part of my restauration job .. to write here in PI and comment my Pictures with my awful grammar. My only apology’s therefor is .. I hat only one year English school lessons as I made my vocational diploma to study and became a civil engineer. And this was 50 years ago. All the “rest” I learnt as I was 55 years old from the internet and my short time in US. I know, … not so much guys over here in PI speak German.. but that's no excuse to me because my own language and how I deal with in my Business time was very important to me. So I hate not to learn more English. But now its to late … I´m now 75 years old and I`ve watch my time to do nothing “superfluous” ?? .
So my dear friends … you have to live with my English and I think you all are good enough to find out always what I mean.
Phil, all pictures I post here in PI about the restauration of my 1924 Sport shows my own work!
Sins I start restore cars 45 years ago I was always pisst about what I paid and what I became for my money. That’s why I start to do all I can by my own. And that’s the reason why I learnt over all this years… basically …. don’t trust no one who live from the money he made to restore cars!!!
All restauration work except : Machine shop work ( where you need the big and expansive machines for) , Final paint coat (except all the small Parts like Fuel tank, Bumpers etc.) , Metal Plating, Rebuild important Brake Parts like Brake cables, Glass Windows etc. … everything else I´m doing by my own.
Yes .. I made this Leaf “gaiters” (😊) by my own. For my upholstery work I have 5 different kind of industrial sewing machines a Leather sharping machine and a leather splitting machine. I learnt to handle this over 35 years. Additional in different special courses to restore leather and do this a couple times on some very important cars.
I picket out this 1924 Sport Phaeton for my last frame off restauration because I like this Dinosaur which is for me the point and time where cars change from Horseless Carriage to Automobiles.
And it is a good project to finish my Restoration Career.

Thank you
Karl
