I used Horseless Carriage several years ago to ship my 1937 Sports Coupe from Connecticut to Florida. I was very pleased with them. Communication was good and I thought the price was reasonable. They were very accommodating with regard to my schedule on both ends.

Several of us on this forum, including most recently John Lauter for his 56-400, bigkev, myself, and I shipped a corvette this week use PAIGE JOHNSON, SPLP Transport, 704-402-5007. Paige is a broker, but don't let that scare you, she only uses a known network of screened transporters.

This is all good information, thanks for sharing the contact for Paige. I'm marking this down in case I need it in the future.

I used Passport Transport. Oregon to Maryland. Enclosed all the way. Same truck, same driver, door to door. No transfer of vehicle from one hauler to another in Chicago or Denver. They have a full page ad in Packard’s International magazine. $2400 cross country high coverage. I wanted an adventure, but didn’t want to drive at night, needed to stay in better places, gas cost, food cost, motel. Min $6000. And it was 2020, Covid.

Appreciate all these replies, thanks gents.

Thinking to transport a 48 club sedan across the country. Does anyone have any opinions about closed v open transport? Price difference is around $1K higher for closed.

I've used Intercity twice for long distance transport - CA to PA and NC to PA. Completely satisfied both times. Fully enclosed, modern equipment, load never left unattended, same driver all the way, and very knowledgeable and professional staff and driver teams. Excellent communications and accommodating back office staff.

I would say it may depend on the condition of the car. I've had 2 cars transported open, the one car was already rough, the other my original survivor (good but not concourse or unblemished). One St. Louis to Atlanta, the other from Maryland. When I talked to the shipping broker they didn't seem worried about open transport but mine were not completely cross country and paint risks minimal.

When I transported all my car from California to Oregon, I used a broker which cost quite a bit more but she handled all the logistics so that I didn’t have to worry about it, especially as I was still trying to get my tons of tools, motorcycles and spare parts packed and shipped too. It was a load off my mind. Unfortunately, though, I no longer recall who did it or whether she is West Coast only or not. I can likely find the information, though, is you want.
