Those $14 energy suspension front bumper stops are a perfect fit.
The above is with a lighter engine and no sheet metal or bumper weight on the front of the car. There are nearly identical to the Packard spec ones, just 1/16th inch shorter, which is probably still taller that any old smashed ones. They also come with new nylock nuts.

Yesterday I ran to the local Menards to buy some wood to build a shipping crate for the motor.
As I parked, a guy in a construction truck pulled up and dumped 3 pallets right on the sidewalk and drove off. Well....dont mind if I do! So we grabbed the nicest of the three which has a fully planked deck. That and a few 2x4s and 2x2 will serve to build the cradle for the motor and the corner framing for the crate. The plan over the next week is to pull the floor board so I can pull the top off the transmission. Which will also give me top side access to loosed the trans-mount, drive-shaft and clutch linkage. I'll also run the engine one last time to let it burn off the rest of the fuel in the carbs. Then I can drain the fluids and pull the radiator assemble off the car. I'll pull the motor and trans as an assemble since I don't know exactly what the inner workings of the trans-engine adapter. So I'd rather seperate the two of the car so I can document everything. Luckily with the entire front clip off, it's pretty much a straight and easy shot to pull the motor without any severe angles. Then I can lay it on the pallet and build up the cradle and crate around it. A 1000 lbs moving dolly will serve as temporary wheels for it. According to Jag guys, a fully dressed motor is about 680lbs. The carbs will come off and be packed with the motor, and everything from the bellhousing forward is getting shipped with the motor, so the rebuilder can run the motor.

Ran it one last time to let it empty whatever fuel was left in the carbs and also warm the oil up a bit.
Then I drained all the fluids, and pulled the radiator core. Also pulled the carbs and disconnected everything else that was connected to the engine (electrical, fuel, temp and pressure senders). I have the exhaust manifolds separated from the collector. With the fuel line disconnected from the carbs, I used the fuel pump to pump the rest of the fuel in the gas tank in a couple of gas cans. I need to drop the tank to reseal the sender as fuel leaks out of the sender when the tank is too full.

No work tonight, had to give my wrist a day off. But I just need to pull the floorboard and start unhooking the transmission.
Then I should be able to move car into a better position so I can pull the motor. Hopefully without having to open the garage and letting the sub-25f weather inside. Still trying to figure out shipping it vs driving it down to Texas. If I decide to drive, then it probably won't happen until after holidays. Pretty sure the wife would kill me if I disappeared for 3-4 days right before Christmas.

So this happened this evening:
Here it is on the pallet which I need to cut down to a shorted length: Transmission seperated, and the custom aluminum adapter plate that is welded to the aluminum Jag bellhousing. Not sure what black magic is happening inside there. [/url Lots of free space to do some cleanup. All the cleaning i did last year has to be redone, the Jag motor pretty much sprayed oil over the entire underside of the car. No rust!
