Hello Packard Forum,

Thank you for what you do! Great opportunity to learn the Packard Details.

FYI, from a previous Forum Submittal, advised to check and service the carburetor start switch and curious how far to go with servicing. Photos attached to address if simply removing the switch and lubricate with dielectric grease to the plunger and piston is the recommendation? Likewise, if a carburetor rebuild kit would be available?

Respectfully,

Jim McIntosh

You may have this already as I believe the article is in the literature archive somewhere but without remembering the exact title I didn't find it to link so just in case it might be useful will post a copy I downloaded. I think Ross originally posted the article but won't swear to that. Also included is a bit that was published in an old Motors manual.

Be sure to also check the ball in the carburetor which your photos don’t show as it must still be inside. That’s what actuates the switch or keeps it from actuating when the engine is running. It and its seating area in the carburetor must be clean so that it can move freely.
