Thank you. I know it is on 1954 and prior but wasn’t sure of the V8 cars as it doesn’t mount directly to the engine block.

Sorry, on 56 I am not positive.
But generally, anything that could be mounted to the block before painting was done so. Anything that mounted after after the block was painted, was usually black.

Yes, that’s something I learned early on as a kid in the ‘60s with the inline engines but my knowledge of V8 colors is limited. In this case, the generator mounts to an extension on the right exhaust manifold which when I asked the question I hadn’t realized so I guess the real question should have been, what color are the manifolds and would the bracket be the same color or painted separately?
