Those side handles can be a pain! As my shop is so rural, I prefer to order ahead which is why I am looking for advance information but I just realized that I have a hold-down bracket here at home that I can measure. I forgot I had one here.

Another question, is the generator bracket where it attaches to the engine black or is it engine color? I know the adjuster is black but not sure of the mount.

Thank you. I know it is on 1954 and prior but wasn’t sure of the V8 cars as it doesn’t mount directly to the engine block.

Sorry, on 56 I am not positive.

But generally, anything that could be mounted to the block before painting was done so. Anything that mounted after after the block was painted, was usually black.

Yes, that’s something I learned early on as a kid in the ‘60s with the inline engines but my knowledge of V8 colors is limited. In this case, the generator mounts to an extension on the right exhaust manifold which when I asked the question I hadn’t realized so I guess the real question should have been, what color are the manifolds and would the bracket be the same color or painted separately?

Is there a type of aerosol paint that's better on seat springs than another? It seems to me that the springing and flexing might flake off a general purpose paint so I would like to find something without that tendency. Weather permitting (there is snow here now) I am hoping to get the springs sand blasted while here so they will need protection.

Not sure if any aerosol will work.
