I know that BigKev is busy gallivanting around the world but a couple comments for when he returns!

One is an oddity in that all of a sudden, my own posts are showing up as new to me! Even some I made some time ago have been reappearing. Not really problem but as it seemed to happen suddenly, I thought I would mention it. Also, sometimes when I click on an actual new link, I am taken to the first page even if the thread has hundreds.

The other is that the 1953-1954 Packard Air Conditioning Serviceman's Training Manual is just plain white pages to me. I already have my own scan of it so not a problem for me but in case that's all others see I thought I should point it out.

For whatever reason I have this same blank page issue on only one PDF file but since I normally use a Mac and a PDF reader application that is built only for Macs there must be a compatibility issue with that one file. Same file works fine when I use Adobe Reader to open and read it. With your issue I wonder if your version of Adobe reader needs to be updated. Someone else had this blank page issue on many of the files in the archive when using a computer that was so old it wouldn't take updates anymore. When he got a new computer all the pdfs started working on that one.

Thank you both. I run Linux and PDFs are virtually never an issue but every now and then there is an problem such as this one. Other times I can open them on the PC but not on my iPad so the issues are inconsistent making them difficult to track down. On my iPad and when viewing PDFs from the Literature Archive, they are fine 99% of the time but when someone links to a PDF in a thread, the iPad nearly always prompts to save it rather than to open it.

For those wondering about the website being unavailable... these hosting companies, they are in a sense middleman. They lease space in various data centers around the world. So the actual issue was at the datacenter, and the hosting provider, much like all of us, was waiting to hear back from them. Supposedly, the data center did some kind of router maintenance and that the damaged the routing table for IP range that the hosting provider uses. So we had to our twidle thumbs until they resolved their issue.

Anyway... we're back online.

If the website is down for a prolonged period, I will usually post updates on the PackardInfo.com Facebook page. So you can always check there to see what is going on.
