I made an edit in the original post, asking if anyone knew someone in the Seattle area, who could come look at it.

I'm in the Seattle area (2 hours away) and could potentially come and gather pictures/video/information. I'm not an appraiser. But if knowledgeable people on the forum want to comb through the info, I could possibly gather and provide that info. Perhaps then we could suggest a more accurate valuation? Just a thought.

He's in the Port Townsend area.

Oof.... That's like a 4 hour drive for me, each way. I don't see that being a possibility for me between work and family. Sorry, wish I could help more

I bought my first Packard up near Port Townsend and it’s a long way out! Certainly not a two hour drive (longer than that from Bellevue which was much closer) when the OP could just as well post more photos and details themselves.

I get the sense that the OP is not on the same location as the car. And it seems like the owner of the car is not able to provide all the information.

Sorry, been battling with a reset of the password. I live in Edmonds, Wa, but the owner of the car is in Port Townsend. I've just been sending out feelers here, to see what others think, and see if advice is applicable. The owner is far from ignorant of what he has, or the quality of the rebuild he has done. He never wanted concourse. He wanted new car. His choice of color is what he researched as a standard Packard color scheme. He's an retired engineer, so his OCD I take for granted. I only have the one picture. I'm sure there would be Pebble Beachers looking down their noses at it for some microscopic detail of overkill missed. He sent parts out to the right people for restoration and painting, frame up. It runs and drives. Just the upholstery needs to be finished. He's just too old now, to finish the job. Which is why, I was hoping someone in the area might have advice or know someone.

There are definitely more Packard guys on the west side of the mountains. I'm in Ellensburg in the middle of the state, and to my knowledge there are only two Packard owners within 75 miles of me. But for sure there are more around your area. The PNW region of the Packard Club would be a good place to check in. I don't think many of those members are on this forum. So I would recommend reaching out to them to see who is close to the car and can take a look. Who knows, maybe one of them is interested in it?

Really a unique car, and I personally like the body style. If I wasn't so far away I'd love to see it in person.

Not long ago I spotted a 1953 Patrician in a carport in Grants Pass , OR that looked like it had been there a while and up near Sisters or somewhere between Sisters and Bend I spotted quite a few Packards sitting out by a barn. Of course, my shop where my Packards are is in Terrebonne or technically Crooked River Ranch, OR and a 1955 Patrician for sale near Redmond so that state at least has them spread around.

It is rare, and it's a great car. But ....

1. amateurish restoration that does not stand up to inspection
2. unfinished
3. poor choice of colors
4. not running
5. a very downtrodden market right now, especially for project cars.

The fact that it's an 840 makes it much more desirable than an 833, but it's still a relatively staid phone-booth-style coupe (versus the much more desirable one-year-only 1934 coupe).

In my opinion (as a professional appraiser, with lifelong family ownership of prewar Packards), and based on the above 5 criteria, I'd say its value is in the neighborhood of $35,000. The value will increase with each of the five points proven wrong.

Jay Leno already has a 1932 coupe (a Twelve), and I strongly doubt he'd be interested in this car. Carini would be interested ... at a give-away price.

It would also be more helpful to know exactly what parts and condition. Is spare engine complete? Worn out? Need many more photos of the car and the parts. Also, location.

West, although you may have been hesitant given the extremely sparse data, you took the time to provide an honest and unvarnished assessment, free of illusions and six-figure fantasies. Thank you very much for that.

Just a small note: do not assume anything, you need to carefully inspect it yourself. If the person did not do the job himself, he's likely no idea what's going on (and even if he did, there is no guarantee either). People have a rather vast discretion when it comes to acceptable automotive repair quality, etc. I have relatives who are retired engineers, and I would not let them anywhere near my car because I've seen the kind of **** they do
