If you have not already checked WWW.packardclub.org-it gives production numbers of various models. As far as parts-Kanter, Max Merritt, etc sell basically everything. I would try and get a copy of Hemmings Mag. All these have web sites as well. Hemmings will give you sources for all most anything. Ebay also is a good source for parts.
The car as you probably know is a very desirable Packard especially with its history.

I'm not very familair with these cars, but production figures are also available, right here at PackardInfo - in the Model Info feature (see the Main Menu, at left). Just drill your way down to your specific model - "2279-9".
Hmm, I wonder, now, if we should research and add an engine color(s) field to those pages or whether that area is effectively covered by Packard International's judging/restoration guide. I believe Bill Hirsch Auto offers upholstery material by the yard for cars of this period; you might check their website. Steele Rubber has reproduced a lot of rubber parts for Packard and other brands, but I'm not sure what you mean by pads between chassis and frame. However, they have a website with an illustrated, online catalog. Hope this helps get you pointed in the right direction.

One source lists 9000 Super Eight convertibles made in the 22nd series, about equally split between true 1948 models (2279-XXXX) and 1949 models (2279-9-XXXX). The engine was almost certainly gray, though occasionally one shows up that seems to have the 1947 and prior green as its original color - it's a subject of some confusion though judging standards are pretty firm on the gray.
Certainly an interesting car and lots of luck with it. The RHD cars are reasonably uncommon, there are some folks on this site from Australia who no doubt have more insight into them and I'm sure will comment. Might I have two additional numbers from your car for my research? The large embossed # enclosed by sideways triangles on the engine side of the cowl, and if you can find it, the number from a small metal tag also on the engine side of the cowl with the title "Briggs Manufacturing Corp" just above it? Engine # would also be nice, left side of engine block. You'll find lots of help in your endeavors on this car. Any chance the King of Thailand prior ownership is documented? That would certainly be something of interest to all of us.

And a request, could you please include your '49 convertible in the Packard Owner's Registry, together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it?
